This is my first SMEx ™ review, and quite frankly after watching this movie, I had no idea where to start when writing this review.
Six of us met at Politikeren @ Youngstorget, about one hour before the movie started to chat and have a beer. The most notable thing there were perhaps the old and brittle wooden benches that made you wonder if they were going to break while sitting there, but I digress…
Finally – a movie featuring both martial arts movie stars; Jet Li and Jackie Chan. “The Forbidden Kingdom” would be the name. Having enjoyed numerous Jet Li movies, and quite a few Jackie Chan movies in the past, expectations were high, at least on my behalf.
This movie is a strange mix of adventure and comedy, with a finishing touch of spectacular martial arts scenes. This is maybe not so unexpected for a Jackie Chan movie, but I haven’t seen a Jet Li movie in this genre before.
The fight scenes were many and not far between, they were long – sometimes too long – and as you would expect, you do see Jet Li and Jackie chan battle it out
To summarize: If you like the typical Jackie Chan movie, I’d say this is a safe choice, thumbs up.
