This was it, this was the big one. This was my 100th SMEx event in a row. Coincidentally it also turned out to be SMEx C. The turn out was small as people weren’t quick enough to snap up a ticket before the movie was sold out. This was the third movie of the film festival to have been sold out, mainly due to the fact this movie had a strong cast and was only shown once! For all of you who missed out I’m sure it will appear at the regular cinema soon enough.
First off before we get to the movie, thanks to everyone who has made SMEx such fun over the last 100 events and two and a bit years, lets keep the good times rolling and hope we can last another 100.
Now to the movie. Let’s start with the cast, George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges. This cast alone makes you think the movie has to be good, then there is the weird premise, psychic soldiers that can kill a goat just be staring at it.
So what was I expected from this movie? To be honest I had no idea, I was just hoping that it was going to be something strange and fun, and that’s exactly what I got. It turned out the main story of the movie followed Ewan McGregor on his trek to make a name for himself as his tried to find out all he could about the secret army battalion of psychic soldiers.
A great movie to round out SMEx C.
The Men Who Stare at Goats, 7.7 out of 10 based on 3 ratingsTags: anniversary, goat, psi
All the references that this movie had were fantastic. I stopped counting in the first 15 minutes and they just kept going on and on and on…
Loved this movie, simply crazy and strange, so many good references and a really great cast
